First we needed to leave Nevada, and before we did, we picked up some chick-fil-A for Eliza’s half birthday. Sometimes parking is not easy with the rig, and this was one of those cases. We drove around for a while before finding a suitable parking spot a ways away (though it said NO PARKING). We all hustled over to put in Eliza’s order because the boys also wanted to see what this Chick-fil-A place is about. Happy 13.5, Eliza! You’re worth the run around!

We entered California and after a while were thrilled to see plants growing! After all the weeks of dryness and minimal plant life, it was a sight for sore eyes to see trees and a wonderfully increasing diversity of plants.
Then we entered the agricultural zone of the central valley and were blown away by the scale – acres and acres of lettuce, carrots, citrus trees. We have concluded that we’d all be pretty hungry without California. We drove by a familiar logo and saw truck and truck filled with mandarins.

We stopped at a farm stand and loaded up with citrus. So delicious!

Our next stay was at a regenerative organic almond farm. They also grow walnuts and olives and raise various pastured animals for meat. They had a donkey, too (NOT to eat). We loved biking and walking through row and after of almond trees. This was one busy place. There were many farm workers and they were working from dawn to dusk!
