It was so amazing to see the ocean! For most of us it was our first time seeing the Pacific Ocean. The beach was wonderful. Most of our days were spent jumping in the waves, playing with sand, collecting seaweed, hunting for crabs and starfish, and one day we even spotted a baby seal! On a single rock we found twenty starfish!
One evening we embarked on a hike on a narrow trail lined with poisonous plants. After that we hastily soaped and showered off. Thankfully a poison ivy epidemic didn’t break out (well…, I am starting to get itchy…)
The sunsets, however, were magical! There were also many pretty flowers lining the top of the cliffs.
On the way out of here we stopped by San Simeon State Park, which in fact is one of my brothers’ names (Simeon). It was a special day to enjoy a birthday, eat chocolate cake with REAL milk, visit a place that was named after my brother, see a colony of Elephant Seals, and go out to eat at a fancy pizza place!
This concludes our wonderful stay at Big Sur.
I LOVED THIS STAY!!!!!!!!
P.S. I hope you guys like pictures! I couldn’t just choose a few.
PPS from Dad. The drive down the Pacific Coast Highway had expansive views around every turn. Even though lows were in the 50s and highs in the 60s these kids spent a lot of time at the beach. It was cool but fun to play in the waves. Our campsite at Plaskett Creek was a tight fit but we made it in. The area is popular with surfers. And we were delighted to celebrate Simeon’s birthday with PIZZA. Test out the link to the elephant seal video.
