The Oregon Coast and Visits from Two Grandparents

5/29/26 – 6/6/26

by Erin

We spent a marvelous week plus on the Oregon Coast! There were many hours spent on the beach. Some highlights were:

  • a visit from Matt’s mom, Nana
  • Crabs and Starfish, playing in the sand, and fort-making with driftwood on Harris Beach
  • A walk through the northernmost stand of coastal Redwoods (more big trees for Abel!)
  • Seal and Sea-lion watching
  • A stroll through a magnificent garden at Shore Acres State Park and short hike down to the small cove of Simpson Beach
  • a Marine Life center visit in Charleston followed by a stop for smoked tuna
  • A visit from Erin’s dad, Grandpops
  • Biking on the sand and digging an enormous hole in Beverly Beach
  • Mo’s seafood restaurant with a live blues band
  • Tidepooling at Cobble Beach
  • a hike up a hill overlooking the ocean
  • a hike in the woods, where we watched our step to dodge the numerous camouflaged and slow-moving salamanders disguising themselves on the trail
